Organic Gardening, Save Money
Seeds of Change is giving away 100 million organic seeds in the Sowing Millions Project. Individuals receive 25 packets of seeds (about 6,250 seeds) and pay only $4.99 shipping. I don’t know about you, but I can’t use that many seeds, so I’ll be sharing mine with neighbors, teachers, members of my Weight Watchers group, strangers walking by on the street … you get the picture. There’s a great opportunity to spread the seeds around.

Community and nonprofit organizations can get 100 packets of seeds (about 25,000 seeds) and pay only $14.99 shipping. For a community that’s looking to start a community or school garden, this is a fabulous offer. There are lots of ways a community group could use these seeds — as part of a silent auction basket, as a give away at an Earth Day celebration, or to give to teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2–6 this year).

For every seed request made by an individual or organization, Seeds of Change will make a matching donation of seeds to the American Horticultural Society.

The offer runs through Dec. 31, 2011 or while supplies last and is only good in the 50 United States and D.C. Seeds will arrive two to six weeks after you order them, so if you want them for spring planting, hop over right now and place your order. I already have.

There are many places online to buy heirloom seeds, I suppose they have organic seeds as well.

Save your time. The give-a-way is over. Too bad. Anyone know of any similar offers?

The site says all the seeds have been given away. If you want specific organic seeds, some sites sell them at a premium to regular garden seeds.
