Today is my favorite “they really have a day for that?” day. It’s International Sunflower Guerilla Gardening Day. It’s a day when people all over the world will be planting sunflowers around their cities and communities in places that could use a little beautification.

I love sunflowers, and I’m going to be carrying sunflower seeds with me all day tomorrow looking for places to make pretty.

It’s a simple thing to do.

  • Get some sunflower seeds.
  • Plant and water them in a spot in your community that needs a little sunshine.
  • Go back to where you’ve planted frequently to take care of weeds and water until the flowers are hearty enough to survive on their own.
Have fun with it. Take some pictures. Get your kids involved if you’ve got them.
