I have a late induction into the eco-rubbish bin hall of fame
: The "Chuck" waste paper basket
from studio CRANK
. These sturdy baskets are made in the USA from 100 percent recycled cardboard and are printed with low-VOC, water-based inks. As of now, only one design/color, "Botanical" (seen below at right), is available but more are on the way and customizable designs (love the cityscape one) are an option with a minimum order. Chuck is sized to fit a 3-gallon trash bag and features a push-n-lock liner device. You can also recycle 'em. Sweet.
A bit more on Mr. Chuck from the studio CRANK folk:
Formed by matching a green need idea with clever product design and manufacturing, Chuck turns every day occurrences in your home, office and entertaining spaces into ecologically enchanting experiences.
At Chuck we’re up to the task of converting today’s waste stream and innovative green materials into smart, inventive and functional products.
Chuck is hosting a design competition, so if you've ever wanted to design original graphics for a waste paper basket, get to it. All entries must be in by Sept. 9, 2009. I love you, Chuck.
