For those of you who made it to this year’s particularly prefabulous Dwell on Design show in Los Angeles — I didn’t attend … I was in a very steamy Hotlanta at the Go Green Expo with fellow blogger Siel (check out her super coverage here) — you may have had the pleasure of stepping inside Austin-based Reclaimed Space’s 400 square foot prefabricated home made with reclaimed 100-year old oak and pine. The home's stylish, sustainable interiors are courtesy Ecofabulous. Interested in moving in?
Well, too bad. It’s sold. The home was actually auctioned off on eBay — all proceeds went to LA-area Habitat for Humanity chapters — for $75,100.

The home is a real beaut. BusinessWeek describes it as "kind of a cross between a shabby chic country house and the Unibomber’s cabin." In addition to the reclaimed wood that was taken from a down-and-out barn, it boasts 85 percent recycled newspaper insulation, an outdoor shower, a Caroma Profile smart toilet, low-e windows, and vintage furnishings that have been reupholstered with organic wool and cotton, recycled PET fabric, or natural latex.
Get the inside scoop in the below video. And for more Dwell on Design 2009 coverage, TreeHugger has the goods here and here.
