, the BPA-free plastic lid capable of transforming an ordinary glass canning jar into a reusable travel mug, or, as one reader dubbed it, a “hillbilly sippy cup”?
Well, Joshua Resnikoff and Aaron Panone, the clever duo behind that award-winning design, are back with yet another accessory that gives the standard wide-mouth jar a whole new layer (literally) of functionality. It’s called the BNTO Canning Jar Lunchbox Adapter
: "BNTO (ben-toh) is our newest canning jar adapter for bringing great food with you on the go! We took inspiration from Japanese bento boxes and created a conveniently shaped insert that separates a canning jar into two compartments so you can mix or dip like a champ."
Rejoice! Say goodbye to the soggy commingling of baby carrots and hummus! Yogurt and granola segregation forever!
Like Cuppow, the BPA-, BPS- and phthalate-free BNTO insert is made from easily recycled/recyclable polypropylene and is dishwasher-safe (top-rack only). The insert itself, along with the handmade letterpress packaging, is proudly domestically designed and manufactured in Massachusetts.
A strong and healthy America is founded on good jobs, so we do our best to support this: we only use domestic options in our supply, manufacturing, and fulfillment. While this might increase the overall cost of business, keeping our entire process within an hour’s drive allows us to ensure quality along every step of the process — and we know that our customers take pride in purchasing a high-quality 100% American made product, the same that we take pride in making one. Furthermore we do our best to encourage customers to buy from brick & mortar stores in the hopes of encouraging vibrant Main Streets in every town, so that more of the cash you spend on our product stays locally within your community.
Currently, the BNTO Canning Jar Lunchbox Adapter is available directly through Cuppow for $7.99 a pop. Also available are special Cuppow lids in limited-edition colors in which 5 percent of proceeds go toward charities including the Alliance for the Great Lakes, Team Rubicon, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, and Cradles to Crayons.
Yay or nay? I wouldn't want to send a youngster to school with a glass jar filled with celery and peanut butter. That's just asking for trouble. However, for picnics, road trips, and at-the-desk office snacks, I can see these being quite the hit.
