It's a Barbados Aloe.
Barbados Aloe is one of the many synonyms for Aloe Vera. The species varies quite a bit with regards to leaf size, spots, and serration/teeth.
Agree. This picture is not of the aloe vera plant. Do I discount everything that you have stated then?
The image appears to be that of some type of agave, not an aloe vera.
