Sea otter pup finds comfort and safety on mom's belly

Mother sea otters are incredibly attentive, spending huge amounts of time and energy feeding, grooming and teaching their pups to swim and hunt as they grow into adults. One strategy to keep from getting separated is to use kelp as an anchor for her pup while she dives for food. When she returns, she pulls the pup onto her belly to keep it warm and dry.
