Can you guess the local name for this yellow oriole? Hint: think bananas

Yellow Oriole (Icterus nigrogularis)

The yellow oriole is a fairly common species around Georgetown, Guyana, where this individual was photographed. While its common name is descriptive enough, it is known by another name as well, which is equally as fitting. The plantain bird or yellow plantain is a head nod to its shape and coloring, which is similar to that favorite tropical fruit.
