Can you name this owl species?

One bird, many names

Can you name this little owl species? Or rather, can you list all the names of this little owl species?

This is a western screech owl, Megascops kennicottii, emerging from its roosting cavity, San Luis Obispo, California. But we wouldn't be surprised if you came up with a different name. Turns out, this little guy is known by no less than ten names.

Owl Pages writes, "Originally, this bird was officially called 'Kennicott's Owl'. Common names include Little Horned Owl, Dusk Owl, Ghost Owl, Mouse Owl, Cat Owl, Little Cat Owl, Puget Sound Screech Owl, Washington Screech Owl, and Coastal Screech Owl."

So if you prefer a different name than western screech owl, you have plenty to choose from.
