It's that time of year again! The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards are looking for the funniest candid photos of animals just being themselves.

In 2017, more than 3,500 entries from 86 countries were submitted to the contest, which was started by photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam.

Last year's overall winner was Tibor Kercz for this adorable photo (as well as three other sequential images) of an owl desperately trying to hang on to a branch with his buddies. Other winners included a pint-sized mouse, a laughing seal and birds in flight.

But the competition isn't just fun and games; it also highlights wildlife conservation efforts.

"Conservation was always at the heart of the competition, along with the fact that people seemed to enjoy images of animals doing entertaining things," said Sullam in a statement. "But essentially living in a country that has some of the best wildlife in the world — Tanzania — and seeing how destructive human actions can be to this wildlife, made us want to do our little bit to help."

This year's competition features six categories including a new video category. The overall winner will receive a safari trip in Maasai Mara, Kenya along with other prizes. So if you're interested, you have four months to get out there and take some hilarious photos!
