Just when you thought it was safe to venture down the nut aisle again, pistachios are up on the chopping block and under investigation by the FDA and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH.) According to the FDA, pistachios sold by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc, Califoria may be contaminated with Salmonella and will therefore be recalled. All in all, 1 million pounds of pistachios will be up for recall and because the pistachios were used as ingredients in a variety of foods, the FDa estimates that the recall will ikely extend into many other products. Already, several brands of trail mix and mixed nuts have joined the recall. Check in with the FDA's pistachio product recall page for an updated list of recalled products.
