Whooo is hiding here?

This photo should make you think about one thing (at least): "How many times have I walked by a tree and not noticed who was hiding in plain sight?"

The eastern screech owl is one species that is well adapted to blend into the background. Its feathers are a color and texture that help it disappear into the bark of the trees in which it rests or scans the surrounding area for prey. Between its camouflage and its silent flight, as well as its keen sight and hearing, the owl is an effective predator.
