Giant silkworm moth caterpillars

Caterpillars in the genus Lonomia warn off predators with their spiky, irritation-causing hairs, and for good reason: these hairs contain a venom that can cause internal hemorrhaging, kidney failure and hemolysis. If a human is exposed to enough of the anticoagulant toxin of the Lonomia obliqua, it can be deadly.
