Lots of lobster

Shawn Coffill of Three Sons Lobster and Fish weighs a pair of live lobsters on July 21 in Portland, Maine.

A mild winter and a very warm spring caused lobsters to shed their shells six weeks earlier than usual, resulting in an overabundance of lobsters in New England and driving prices down to record lows. Lobstermen have been forced to sell their catch for as low as $1.25 a pound to turn a profit, compared to a more traditional $4 a pound.
