New cub on the block
Young polar bear cub Anori (left) explores her open-air enclosure on March 29 with her mother, Vilma, during the cub's debut at the Wuppertal Zoo in western Germany.
The 3-month-old cub shares a father with the late celebrity polar bear Knut, who became an international sensation when a zookeeper began raising him by hand after he was rejected by his mother at birth in 2006. The famous bear collapsed and died suddenly last year at the age of 4 due to complications from encephalitis.

Exploring her home
Anori walks through her enclosure with her tongue peeking out at the Wuppertal Zoo on March 29. Anori is actually one of two cubs that were born on Jan. 4, but the other sibling didn't survive past the first week.
Although her half brother Knut received a large amount of publicity and brought in lots of money for the Berlin Zoo, Anori's exposure to the public will be more toned down in her developmental years.

Mother-daughter bonding
Anori cuddles up with her mother to nurse in the open-air enclosure at Wuppertal Zoo. When polar bear cubs are born, they depend a great deal on the mother in the first few years of life; they generally aren't weaned until they reach the age of 2 or more.
