A fawn and a rabbit have earned themselves the nickname "real-life Bambi and Thumper" after a video of them playing together outside a Colorado YMCA went viral.

"[The video] just brightens everyone's day when they watch it," YMCA spokeswoman Martha Sortland told UPI.

Steve and Vicky Johnsen, volunteers at YMCA of the Rockies' Estes Park Center filmed the encounter, which starts with the young deer approaching the rabbit and bouncing. It's as if the deer is saying, "No, look, I can hop, too! We can both hop! Let's hop together!" The rabbit seems to need a little convincing, however, as it run away from the deer's playful overtures.

There's a moment around 75 seconds into the video when both animals just stop and seem aware of the humans recording them, and the rabbits attitude seems to change after that, almost as if they decided, "You know what? Let's give these humans a real good show!"

And put on a good show they do. Both critters frolic and bounce around the yard, engaged in a playful dance.

The Johnsens lose track of the rabbit behind a tree, but it's a wonderful display of animal friendship that indeed felt like something out of a Disney film.
