Kepler-186f: An Earth-size exoplanet

Another exoplanet discovered by the Kepler spacecraft, this one has the distinction of being the first Earth-size planet located in what is known as the circumstellar habitable zone, an orbit around a star that maximizes the chances of life by keeping many variables as close to Earth-like as possible (for example, liquid water). It was discovered in 2014.

The poster makes reference to the color red. That’s because Kepler-186f orbits a star that is cooler and redder than our sun.
