This summer marks the 150th anniversary of the Yosemite Grant Act, which set aside the first portion of the park for future generations and paved the way for the creation of the revered U.S. National Park System.
One of the best ways to celebrate our first national park is to visit it yourself, but for all the armchair travelers out there, there's "Yosemite Meditations."
This pocket-sized book is filled with the stunning work of professional landscape photographer Michael Frye as well as a collection of poignant quotes compiled and edited by Claudia Welsh and Steven P. Medley. First published by the Yosemite Conservancy in 2004, the 10th-anniversary edition features the inspiring words of celebrated writers, thinkers, scientists and passionate park admirers.
