The Kalalau Trail on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai is one of the most scenic trekking paths in the U.S. It covers only about 11 miles, but the terrain makes it a challenging journey that is best suited for experienced hikers and reasonably fit adventure seekers. The Kalalau starts in the uncrowded sands of Ke'e Beach and then runs into its namesake, the Kalalau Valley. Trekkers who undertake this challenging island journey are rewarded with views of tropical scenery and also with multiple opportunities to see panoramas of the surrounding valley, the sky and the sea.
