Gulf oil spill: Animals at risk

Thousands of brown pelicans come to Breton National Wildlife Refuge off the coast of Louisiana and Mississippi every year to nest and raise their young. Their breeding season just began and many pairs are already incubating eggs. In late 2009, the brown pelican — also the state bird of Louisiana — was removed from the endangered species list after 37 years.
