Endangered Forest Mapping
Georgia-Pacific is the first forest products company to use a broad-scale analysis to map 6.6 million acres of endangered forests in 19 states within the United States. To ensure the protection of these invaluable forests, we are committed to conducting ongoing monitoring.
There are some lands that should be protected because of their unique or rare qualities. GP has mapped these endangered forests and special areas in our key wood fiber supply regions in the U.S. We won't buy wood from these area except when active forest management is needed to improve habitat for endangered, rare or vulnerable species like the red-cockaded woodpecker and the Louisiana black bear.
Sustainability comes naturally to us. Not only do our products help improve people’s lives, but we also operate in ways that enhance the quality of life in our communities, help ensure the economic stability of our company and help protect our environmental resources. Learn more.
