Biodiversity refers to the variety of lifeforms existing in a given ecosystem. On Earth that includes plants, animals, micro-organisms and many millions of different species of lifeforms. Maintaining healthy biodiversity is crucial because all aforementioned lifeforms are interdependent, and the wellbeing of each is linked to the others.
