The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires a nutrition facts label on most packaged foods and beverages. Many restaurants now include nutrition information on their menus as well. 

The Nutrition Facts label requires serving size, calories, fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrate, protein and select vitamins and minerals to be disclosed.
