Nutrition Facts

nutrition facts label on tomato

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires a nutrition facts label on most packaged foods and beverages. Many restaurants now include nutrition information on their menus as well.

The Nutrition Facts label requires serving size, calories, fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrate, protein and select vitamins and minerals to be disclosed.

There are many foods that don't have nutrition labeling, and many vital nutrients are not included in standard labeling. MNN's health experts provide comprehensive nutrition information beyond standard labeling for a variety of packaged and non-packaged foods and beverages.
