The most famous pregnancy of 2011 has finally delivered in 2012! Beyoncé and Jay-Z's new baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter, arrived Saturday, sending off a flurry of congratulations from around the world.

"Welcome to the world, Blue! We love you already," tweeted Gwyneth Paltrow. "Congrats to Jay and B! And many more!," added rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the happy parents spent a whopping $1.3 million to reserve an entire wing of Lennox Hill Hospital on Manhattan's upper East Side. An additional $200,000 was spent on private security guards to keep away prying eyes. "Security cameras were blocked with tape, and all staffers — including doctors, nurses and top administrators — had to turn in their cellphones to prevent any photos of the little girl leaking to the media," the site reports.

As celebrity baby photos generally command top dollar from gossip mags, the need for keeping things under wraps is apparently an effort to retain some of that value. As bizarre as it seems, there is a good side to such sales, as most famous couples use the funds to benefit charities close to their hearts. The move, however, did not go over well with other visitors to the hospital —  including one new dad who was stymied in his efforts to see his premature, newborn twins.

"They just used the hospital like it was their own and nobody else mattered," new dad Neil Coulon told Fox News.

While the back story behind Blue Ivy's unusual (and in this author's opinion, beautiful) name is unclear, some sites are speculating that it has to do with Beyoncé and Jay-Z's love of the Roman numeral IV.

"Beyoncé's birthday is Sept. 4, while Jay-Z's is Dec. 4," reports PEOPLE. "The two married on April 4 in 2008; they reportedly have matching "IV" tattoos on their wedding fingers; and Beyoncé named her latest album 4."

Now that the pregnancy is over, I'll be curious to see if Jay-Z and Beyoncé continue the partial-vegan regimen they were experimenting with. According to Us Weekly, the 30-year-old singer had adopted the diet in an effort to remain healthy and avoid putting on too much weight. Jay-Z reportedly joined in as a show of support. “Jay’s trying to be disciplined, and he needs the energy to support her,” a source told the magazine.
