Have you ever been wandering around a new city wishing you could figure out where to go get vegetarian food or shop for eco-savvy supplies? Now a new website and app called GreenMap can show you where to go. GreenMap allows users to chart and search green events, businesses, museum exhibits, restaurants, travel destinations and anything else on your green agenda. The information is stored and plotted on a Google map so that wherever you go, you can go green.
iPhone users can download the free GreenMap app directly to their phones, while smart phone users can access the mobile website to get their green on the go. The app is still in beta, but already users have access to almost 9,000 green sites from all over the world — everything from farmers markets to green buildings to gardens and heritage sites. It's certainly not comprehensive ... yet, but the more users who access the app and add sites, the better it will be for everyone.
Personally, I love this idea. I don't have an iPhone, but I do have a smart phone, and I'll gladly load up the green destinations in my area. What do you think? Would you use the GreenMap app to find green when you're on the go?
