Get out your calendar: the National Park Service recently announced its fee-free days for 2011, the first of which is right around the corner. 

This year, the entrance fees will be waived at national parks around the country on the following dates:

  • Jan. 15-17 (Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday weekend)
  • April 16-24 (National Park Week)
  • June 21 (First day of summer)
  • Sept. 24 (Public Lands Day)
  • Nov. 11-13 (Veterans Day weekend)
In addition, many park concessionaires (the folks who run the hotels, restaraunts and shops in the parks) are joining in with special offers of their own. You can find a regularly updated listing of offers at
