As a lead in to Earth Day, the website Circle of Moms is putting together a list of the Top 25 Eco-Friendly Moms. These are the moms whose blogs have influenced the green webosphere and whose thoughts, reviews, ideas and advice have helped shape the conversation of green parenting.

I'm not going to pull any punches. I was nominated for the list, and I am totally honored. I've actually known about it for awhile, but I haven't mentioned it for fear of alienting readers with my shameless self-promotion. Then I read a post by Alicia Voorhies, whose blog The Soft Landing is also in the running, and I couldn't agree more with Voorhies' take on this "contest." In her post, "Do We Belong in the Top 25 Eco-Friendly Moms," Voorhies writes:

"[I]t’s an opportunity to stand beside the women who have shaped our community. The friends we turn to for help with questions outside our expertise. The mentors who encourage us to keep going when we’re struggling to find a path through a sea of endless toxic chemicals."

And it is in that sense that I want to promote this "contest," to give readers a chance to have thier say and give their thumbs up to their favorite green moms. I would be honored if you gave me a vote, and while your clicking, be sure to check out the sites of some of these great green moms whose blogs have been a source of inspiration for me over the years.

You can vote by clicking the “thumbs up” once per day through April 17.
