Eleven months ago, this sweet blue heeler pup was abandoned near a dumpster in Compton, California. He is still wearing the collar from his old life, but that is all that remains. For the past several months, he has been lucky enough to receive food and water from a nearby good Samaritan. But the skittish stray never wandered far from his dumpster. And whenever people got too close, he hid underneath until they were gone.
Enter Hope For Paws, a non-profit group that gets homeless dogs off of the street and into shelters and eventually homes.
And that's just what happened here. To watch this pup (nicknamed "Cowboy") go from scared and nervous to happy and playful is a sheer delight.
"After a warm bath, Cowboy's sweet personality started to shine through," says the video. Cowboy can be seen back at Hope For Paws headquarters playing with other pups, investigating a newborn kitten, showering kisses on his foster mom, and finally playing fetch with his new "forever" mom.
