A cat in Southwest Bakersfield, California, will be getting as much of his favorite treats as his little heart desires after becoming a hero. While riding his bike up the driveway, 4-year-old Jeremy was attacked by the neighbor's dog. Just why the dog attacked isn't clear, but what could have been a serious encounter was quickly cut short as the family's cat, Tara, comes storming in to scare the daylights out of the dog and chase it away.

"Tara is my hero," Jeremy told ABC23 News.

Thanks to Tara, Jeremy only needed a few stitches. The dog is now under surveillance with Animal Control for 10 days, then it will be euthanized.

ABC23 News has interviewed Jeremy, who has mild autisum, and of course Tara the Super Cat.
