In a survey by BizRate Research, 56 percent of women and 41 percent of men said their pets are more affectionate than their partners and 45 percent of women claimed their pets were cuter than their partners.
And a Swiss study of more than 200 couples found that cats were more able than spouses to alleviate negative moods.
