Each year when McDonald’s released its limited-time-only McRib, it sends people into a frenzy that I don’t understand. Like other seasonal food crazes like Pumpkin Spice Lattes or Girl Scout Cookies, when the McRib is released every year, its fans rejoice. Loudly.
Right now, the McRib is showing up in restaurants across the country, and a photo of an uncooked McRib patty is showing up on social media pages and news reports. The photo, taken by a McDonald’s employee ended up on Reddit a few days ago, and it has, as they say, gone viral. It's all over Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, and even ABC News and Huffington Post.
Take a look.
Is anyone really shocked that the frozen McRib looks like a plaster cast of a tire track? I don’t think so. It looks exactly what you’d think a frozen patty of smooshed together pork parts and fillers that are made to imitate ribs would look like.
There are some comments on Twitter from people saying “Ewwww” or “It’s Styrofoam,” or “It’s not appetizing.” But, no one seems particularly surprised. Even the Huffington Post’s headline about the photo that reads “Frozen McRib Photo Will Make You Question Everything In Life” is sarcastic.
If you’re really looking for something that’s truly going to make you question everything in life, you need to eat an apple from the top down. That will freak you out.
