Here's a great little trick for buying the freshest bread at most grocery stores — look at the twist tie/tab. The color of the twist tie usually corresponds to the day that it was delivered. Mondays are blue, Tuesdays green, Thursdays red, Friday white, and Saturday yellow. When you're shopping, just look for the bread with the twist tie that's closest to the day you're buying it on.

An easy way to remember the colors is that they are in alphabetic order — Blue, Green, Red, White, Yellow or B, G, R, W, Y.
