Earlier this week, I mentioned that Michelle Obama had challenged Jay Leno in a tweet to eat some vegetables when she visited his show. Last night, the first lady was a guest on “The Tonight Show,” and to no one’s surprise, she persuaded Leno to munch away on the food she brought.

Of course, she didn’t present Leno with a tray of raw veggies. Instead, she quoted Dr. Seuss while urging Leno to try a whole-wheat vegetable pizza with tomato, eggplant, peppers and zucchini along with some sweet potato fries. She also got him to eat an apple dipped in some White House honey, and this is where the comedian couldn’t help himself and made a bit of an off-color, but harmless, joke. Watch the entire interview below. The food part is in the third video.

I have to tell you the food part was not my favorite part of the interview. My favorite part was in the beginning of the second video when Leno asks Obama how she explains to her younger daughter Sasha, age 10, that she can’t have a cellphone like her older sister Malia, age 13, has. Her response? “No, you don’t get a cellphone. There’s not much more explanation than that.”

She’s my kind of mom.

Leno couldn't say no to the vegetables and fruit that the first lady placed on his desk. He also couldn't say no to making an off-color joke, either. Watch the
