Getting the family around the table for regular meals is a topic I love to discuss. It’s also a ritual I’ve been fighting for in my own home. We all don’t make it to the table every night, but we certainly make it there much more often than we used to. I’m grateful for the difference that it has made in my family.

Even though I’ve written quite a bit about it, there’s still information to get out there and encouragement to spread. For the next month, I’ll be partnering with Real Simple to help spread the word about the importance of family dinner and their Take Back Dinnertime challenge.

Here’s what Real Simple has to say about Take Back Dinnertime.

Does getting a meal on the table every night stress you out? Are you in a cooking rut or do you feel like dinnertime turns into chaos at your house? Sign up for Real Simple’s Take Back Dinnertime challenge to get smart tips and ideas to help you cook healthier meals, get organized in the kitchen, find cooking inspiration, and feel more connected to your family at the table. Plus, you’ll be entered in a sweepstakes for a chance to win one of our weekly prizes, including $2,000 in groceries.
Here’s how it works:

Join the challenge and create a profile to enter the sweepstakes and keep track of your points. Starting August 22, you’ll get daily emails with cooking tips, recipes, and easy dinnertime ideas. The more ideas you try, the more points you earn. Tell your friends about the challenge—for every friend who joins, you’ll get another point. And the more points you earn, the more sweepstakes entries you’ll get, meaning you’ll have more chances to win.

Here’s how I’ll be joining the challenge on my blog. For five consecutive weeks starting the week of August 22, I’ll be bringing you tips, ideas, recipes and videos provided by Real Simple once a week.

If you’re looking for tips and encouragement to get your family to eat more meals together, join me in this challenge and head over to Real Simple and sign up for Take Back Dinnertime.

If you’re not convinced of the importance of family meals, I encourage you take some time and read about the difference family mealtime can make. Let me point you to a few posts here on MNN to get you started.
