The winners of the Healthy Lunch Time Challenge have been announced, and 54 kids will be heading to the White House next week for the Second Annual Kids’ State Dinner. Back in April, first lady Michelle Obama invited kids to create healthy lunches that met MyPlate standards.

Let’s Move has released a video that goes behind the scenes of the judging. White House chef Sam Kass and others explain how the winning dishes are chosen. Kids whose recipes win are invited to attend the Kids State Dinner on July 9.

The Let’s Move website has a complete list of Kids’ State Dinner winners and the recipes they created. Last year’s 54 winning recipes were released in a free “Healthy Lunchtime Challenge Cookbook.” Chances are, this year’s recipes will be too, and when they are, I’ll be sure to let you know about it.
