I came across this cute video that was created for the TEDxSydney conference. It’s called “The First Taste” and it’s a short film by Matt Gilmour that captures the expressions of children as they taste foods that not even all adults like. Anchovy, Vegimite, olive, and Gherkin pickles are just a few of the foods fed to these kids, ages 1-6, to get a reaction out of them.

Cute, right?

Do these sour faces mean that the children are destined to reject these foods forever? Not necessarily so. Research shows that many children need to be introduced to a food at least 12 times before they develop a taste for it. That little tyke that spit out the pickled onion just might be reaching for it one day.
