Did you watch it or DVR it? You know what I’m talking about - the royal wedding. I set my alarm for 3:10 this morning, and by 4 a.m., I was in my friend Rita’s kitchen where a traditional English breakfast was being prepared. We watched the guests arrive on BBC America and marveled at all the hats. In honor of newlyweds William and Kate, this weekend’s reads are dedicated to the food and drink surrounding the celebrations.

  • Last week I told you about Lapostolle biodynamic wines. It seem I’m not the only one that enjoys wine from this winery in Chile. Last night, soon-to-be princess Kate Middleton served Lapostolle’s Sauvignon Blanc at her private family pre-wedding dinner. Us magazine made a point of mentioning its reasonable price.
  • Eatocracy knows what’s for lunch at the royal reception at Buckingham Palace and it’s been sourced locally. Guests will nibble on a selection of canapés created from local ingredients.
  • You can check out official photos of the two wedding cakes being served on Flickr – a traditional seven-tiered white cake and a chocolate biscuit cake said to be a favorite of the prince’s.
  • The final official wedding feasting will end at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning with bacon sandwiches and “fry ups,” when the private party that Prince Harry has planned for William, Kate and 300 of their closest friends will end. ABC News says that “rock it will.”
Enjoy your weekend!
