I’ve promised to bake something for my local school’s election day bake sale, but I also have to send my two boys off trick-or-treating this afternoon since Hurricane Sandy postponed Halloween in New Jersey. Once they leave, I’ll be manning the front door with a bowl of treats. And, later this evening, I’ll be heading into Philadelphia for an event. I need my contribution to the bake sale to be easy to make. I know just the thing.
I can whip up six small loaves of pumpkin bread at once with my go-to Pumpkin Bread recipe. It calls for canned or fresh pureed pumpkin, and it’s moist and delicious. I give you permission to make the same if you’re still searching for something to bake for an election day bake sale, or you can try one of these other recipes from the MNN archives.
- Homemade Peanut Butter Granola Bars
- Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Butternut Squash Muffins
- Gluten-Free No-Bake Brownie Balls
Or, if you want to get political with your election day baking, you could bake the cookies made by the wife of your candidate of choice. I'm sure Michelle Obama’s White and Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies or Anne Romney’s M&M Cookies would be a hit at a bake sale no matter which candidate wins.
