The meatloaf recipe that I make calls for a package of onion soup mix. That’s not unusual for a meatloaf recipe or many other recipes. Instead of using a package of onion soup mix, I’ve been substituting this mixture of beef bouillon and spices.
Not only do I know exactly what’s going into my meatloaf, I also don’t spend money on onion soup mix. I usually have all the ingredients on hand.
Ingredients
-
1/3 cup dried onion flakes
-
2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules or 2 tablespoons Organic Better than Beef Bouillon
-
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
-
1/4 teaspoon parsley flakes
-
1/4 teaspoon sugar
-
1/8 teaspoon celery seed
-
1/8 teaspoon paprika
-
1/8 teaspoon pepper
-
1/8 teaspoon turmeric
Directions
Thoroughly mix all ingredients together and use in place of one packet of dry onion soup mix.
