Flahavan's, a 230-year-old, family owned company, sent me samples of oatmeal and the recipe for this oatmeal-infused shake that's great for St. Patrick's Day — or any day you want the stick-to-your-ribs nutrition of oatmeal.
The company ensures its products are made in an environmentally friendly a way. The outer shells of the oats are removed, but they aren't thrown away; they're used to power the boiler that generates steam for the cooking process. Wind turbines and a mill stream generate electricity for the company's plants and the company is focused on waste and recycling too.
- Chef's knife
- Cutting board
- 1⁄3 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup chopped mango
- 1⁄2 medium avocado
- 1 lime, juiced
- 3 fluid ounces coconut milk
- Add all the ingredients in a blender, adding the coconut milk last.
- Blend until smooth.
- Add more coconut milk if the shake is a bit too thick.
