A city submerged

A street light is submerged by floodwaters after the Yangtze River flooded Chongqing, China, on July 19.

The flood peak was the highest in two decades in Chongqing. Water levels in the Yangtze River incresed 5.48 meters above emergency levels, boosting the flow to nearly 70,000 cubic meters a second and 20,000 cubic meters higher than the flow during the 1998 floods that killed 4,150 people.
