Harlandale High School is a high-needs, low socio-economic campus. Teacher Vanessa Henry’s biology classroom includes 45 students who receive special education services and 22 students who are English language learners. Vanessa identified the need for materials to help her students build confidence and allow her to check their understanding on a more regular basis. Through DonorsChoose.org, she requested and received “write and wipe” boards that students can quiz or game with. This makes the biology educational experience fun and engaging for the students and allows Vanessa to gauge collective understanding of concepts. Watch this interview with Vanessa and her students to learn more about DonorsChoose.org and the impact it’s making in a local community.
