Luther Burbank High School is a socio-economically disadvantaged campus on the south side of Sacramento. As a Title 1 school, all students qualify for free or reduced lunch, breakfast and dinner, so basic food needs are being met in addition to education. Art supplies are in particularly low supply, so art teacher John Doolittle requested and received paper for a watercolor project through DonorsChoose.org. Previously, the classroom only had copy paper which doesn’t hold paint pigment and ripples when it’s exposed to water.
