Hybrid diesel trains

By using powerful electric motors and only cranking the diesel engines to charge the batteries, hybrid diesel trains are able to cut emissions by 50 percent. Regenerative braking technology, which captures energy from the brakes during deceleration and puts it back into the batteries, cuts energy use.
