The latest big name to join the world of veganism is none other than Jennifer Lopez.

The 44-year-old "American Idol" judge recently told New York radio station Z100 that she embraced the diet as a means to stay in shape.

"Being vegan, it's basically no diary, no meat, everything is plant-based and from the ground," she said. "Butter is the one thing I miss! You do feel better. I do recommend the vegan diet because you wake up and feel great!"

Lopez joins other celebs who have made the shift to veganism over the past several years, including Anne Hathaway, Emily Deschanel, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

"I just felt like ... there was science behind it," Pfeiffer told Dr. Sanjay Gupta of her shift. "And, you know, it was sort of irrefutable. ... I couldn't not listen to it. My father died from cancer, and the older you get, there's a lot of disease around you. And you see people struggling with chronic disease. You see people dying with terminal illnesses. And if in any way ... this is true, then you kind of have to listen to it."
