While last week's vegan special on "The Martha Stewart Show" was a tasty affair, the 69-year-old host saved her juiciest news for off-camera.

According to the site Vegansaurus, which had a blogger in attendance, Stewart took time after the taping to answer questions from her audience. When asked if she might do more vegan-related specials in the future, the cooking queen offered up a personal story about some beef she recently purchased.

“I didn’t buy it from my regular butcher. (I usually buy three pounds of good ground chuck.) And I took it home — this was from the supermarket — and I rolled it in my hands and my hands were stained red and I vowed I wouldn’t eat beef again," she said. "No really, it was horrifying … What the heck do they do to the beef that made my hands red? It shouldn’t do that.”

While I've heard reports that some grocery stores dye their meat to make it appear "fresh," I'm not sure if this is what happened to Stewart. Either way, she did end the tale by saying she was slowly progressing towards a more plant-based diet.

My only caveat is that these comments were made off the air, so who knows if she'll actually turn into a veg-head, something many would love to see.
