Kalalau Trail, Kauai, Hawaii

The Kalalau Trail is an 11-mile route in the island of Kauai in Hawaii, that starts from Ke’e Beach and ends at Kalalau Beach. It is described as “graded but almost never level as it crosses above towering sea cliffs and through lush valleys.” Wild goats are known to graze along the trail. Have a fear of heights? You are forewarned. With plunging cliff sides, this is not for the faint of heart. Kathy Valier is a Kauai resident and author of local guidebooks. As she told Backpacker, "People have a hard time with some of the drop-offs.”
