Rowing his way to the Paralympics

Kiwi adaptive rower and soon-to-be Paralympian Danny McBride is silhouetted by the morning sun on April 19 during training at Lake Karapiro in Cambridge, New Zealand.

McBride, who set his sights on rowing after a freak forestry accident in 1999 left him paralyzed, will compete in this summer's London Paralympics after qualifying with a second-place finish in the men's adaptive single sculls final at the World Rowing Championships last September.
