June 21, 2002: 8,000 people are evacuated in the path of the Rodeo fire, soon to become the worst in Arizona history. The Rodeo fire merges with another huge blaze, the Chediski fire, and the combined wildfire (at right) destroys nearly half a million acres.

June 21, 2010: Larry King hosts — and CNN broadcasts — a telethon to raise money for victims of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. A celebrity cast, including Justin Bieber, Sting, Lenny Kravitz and Cameron Diaz, helps raise $1.7 million.
